Delegation to Travel to the US Promoting Peace Building based on a Shared Future

The Mossawa Center, Haifa. Wednesday 19th of March 2014. A joint delegation of Palestinian and Jewish civil society leaders will be traveling to Washington DC and New York March 22nd through the 29th to promote peace building based on a shared future. The delegation will present an alternative massage to the separation and incitement discourse promoted by extremists. The delegation will promote self determination for Palestinians and Jews, civil and social rights as well as minority rights protection based on the International Human Rights Standards.

The Delegation represents different communities that are working together in the fight against racism, incitement and separation. The organizations act as a coalition of Palestinians and Jews that are working to build solidarity, facing racism, and separation.

The Mossawa Center, the Advocacy Center for Arab Citizens in Israel, is in cooperation with Tmura - The Israeli Anti-discrimination Legal Center, who acts to fight racism against Mizrahi Jews, the Israel Religious Action Center, who works to advance pluralism in Israeli society, and Morashtenu, who strive to promote the full-scale involvement of Russian-speakers into Israeli civil life. This joint delegation cooperates together in the Coalition Against Racism in Israel and acts to build a civil movement.

The Delegation will outreach to members of the congress, senate, and state department as well as think tanks and American civil society, and will call on them to promote peace and civil and minority rights in Israel and Palestine. "Separation will not enable both Palestinians and Jews to live in peace. Walls, discrimination and incitement failed to secure people's rights. We call on the US policy-makers to promote peace with open borders and human rights protection. Self-determination of the Jews in Israel and Palestinians in Palestine should be based on peace building reconciliation, civil rights and full respect to Palestinian Arab minority rights in Israel. The current reality should be changed and peace building should be promoted systematically".

The delegation members will meet with different organizations in the US. We hope to build a supporters network in the US, as we are acting as an alternative network in the region.
