General strike in the Arab Local Councils

As Arab local authorities went on a strike to protest discriminatory budgeting policies by the Israeli government during the Coronavirus outbreak, the Mossawa Center published its findings detailing how such discrimination is being manifested.

A new plan approved by the government would grant local authorities compensation for lost tax revenue from industrial and commercial zones to the tune of 2.4B NIS ($800). However, Arab localities will get little to no funding, as the government deliberately does not develop such zones in them.

This discriminatory plan could lead to a financial crisis in the Arab community
