The activities of Aspiring and Elected Women on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

This period witnessed a series of events and initiatives organized or coordinated by the Network of Aspiring Women Leaders at the Mossawa Center, in cooperation with elected women representatives in local authorities. These efforts aim to strengthen the presence of women in positions of influence, advance community-based work against violence and discrimination, and build joint initiatives that promote social justice

On 21.11, three women members of the Nazareth Municipal Council participated in the study day organized by the Mossawa Center in cooperation with the Equality Enhancement Department in the Histadrut, to examine government cuts to Nazareth Municipality budgets and explore the possibility of developing a recovery plan to place the city on a safe and stable path.

On 26.11, journalist and member of the Women Leaders Network, Bayan Hujairat, took part in organizing a meeting dedicated to mothers in Halisa, led by Dr. Walid Haddad, with the participation of network members Heba Mahamid and volunteers from the Mossawa Center, under the slogan “We, not I,” adopted by the network. The meeting aimed to raise community awareness and develop tools for protection and support for mothers.

On 27.11, the Mossawa Center supported the “Noor al-Layl” evening initiated and organized by influencer and activist Khalil Ghazban at “Sard” Theater in Haifa. The event’s proceeds were dedicated to supporting the Mary Association and cancer patients in the Arab community. Women leaders, members of the youth team at the Mossawa Center, and the “Hatta wa Igal” youth group participated in the evening, alongside the Center’s contribution to promoting and publicizing the event.

At the beginning of December, under the umbrella of the “We, not I” initiative, as a continuation of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and in commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, members of the Network of Women Leaders will volunteer at the Al-Sabat Center – the Palestinian Heritage Center. They will prepare an aid campaign to be sent to one of the villages in the Bethlehem district, in honor of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

On 16.12, woman leader Rasha Ismail, Director of Community Justice Centers in Majd al-Krum, will organize activities marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women at one of the town’s educational institutions, with the participation of Majd Manaa, Youth Activities Coordinator at the Mossawa Center, aiming to raise local awareness and support women in the community.

In the second week of December, the Mossawa Center will hold the annual summary and celebratory meeting for the Women’s Project for 2025, during which the experiences, initiatives, and skills acquired by members of the Women Leaders Network throughout the year will be presented.
