Mossawa Center will hold its 2026 Conference on the Legal Status of Arab Society on June 19 in Nazareth, bringing together legal experts, academics, elected officials, local authority representatives, and civil society leaders to discuss key legal, political, and social challenges
facing Arab citizens in Israel.
The conference takes place as the Mossawa Center marks 25 years of advocacy for the collective, civil, political, and socio-economic rights of Arab society. It will be held against the backdrop of significant legal and political developments in recent years and their impact on the status, rights, and civic space of Arab citizens.
The conference will feature four main sessions:
The Judiciary, Civil Liberties, and Arab Political Representation in the Shadow of the Judicial Overhaul
Violence and Crime in Arab Society: Between State Responsibility and Legal Avenues for Action
Legalization as a Tool of Control over Arab Land and Space: Planning and Construction Between Law and Punishment
Towards the 2026 Elections: Alliances, Political Influence, and the Future of Arab Political Representation
Discussions will address the implications of recent legal and legislative changes on civil liberties and political participation, the state's responsibility in combating violence and organized crime, planning and housing policies affecting Arab communities, and the prospects for Arab political representation ahead of the 2026 elections.
The conference aims to provide a professional platform for examining legal and policy challenges facing Arab society and exploring strategies to strengthen rights, representation, and civic engagement in the years ahead.
