The Mossawa Center has launched workshops in 19 Arab localities to counter poverty in the Palestinian Community

The workshops are part of the “Fighting Poverty Project” through which Mossawa aims to improve the individual socio-economic situation of Palestinians in Israel. The main issues targeted by the workshops include:basic human rights, individual socio-economic empowerment; developing capacities; family budgeting and employment skills.

The workshops are carried out by experts in the various fields and take place in communities that are participating in the poverty reduction program “Noshmim Larevaha”(A breath of relief).

The first workshop started in January 2016 in the town of “Bei al Maksur” and was entitled “management of family budget”. – Several workshops were held in the triangle town Qalansuwa in March about “preparation for success in the job market ”

On April, 2 workshops on community organizing were held in Sha’ab and another 2 about family budgeting in Arara as well as in Baqa Al-Gharbyie. On April 20th Mossawa will participate in a study day about individual rights in Majd el Kroum where will also be hold a workshop about individual housing and health rights. In May over110 workshops in several Arab localities are already scheduled. The sessions are planned tohave between 10 – 15 participants each.

The Mossawa Center is confident that poverty can be reduced by programs like “Noshim Larevaha”, but continues to call for state institutions to take on the full responsibility of countering poverty in the Arab community.
